David Bell


David Bell, who has a Ph.D. in mathematics from Vanderbilt University, is co-author of the Bell-LaPadula security model, which produced conceptual tools for the analysis and design of secure computer systems.(1)(2) David Bell has held numerous posts in the security field, including several positions in the MITRE Corporation, deputy chief of the NSA R&D Office, vice president/corporate secretary of Trusted Information Systems, and others. His work has included security modeling and model interpretation, and designing and rolling-out public-key technology. He has also conducted research into secure operating system design, security for healthcare systems, and security for financial systems.(3)(4)
