Steve Walker


Steve Walker, who has an MSEE from the University of Maryland College Park, and a BSEE from Northeastern University, is noted for his work on the team that developed the ARPAnet, and for his pioneering work at the Department of Defense's Computer Security Initiative. Following his service in the NSA and DARPA, Steve Walker founded and worked as the chairman and CEO of Trusted Information Systems, Inc., a computer security research and development company that provided computer and information security research for numerous organizations during the 1980s and 1990s.(1) Network Associates (which later became McAfee, now owned by Intel) purchased TIS in 1998.(2)(3) He is currently the chairman of the Technology Leadership Consortium volunteer group, and President of Steve Walker & Associates, and Managing Partner of Walker Ventures.(4)
