The NFPA-75 is a standard set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) pertaining specifically to the protection of IT equipment, and IT equipment areas. Established in 1896, the NFPA is an international non-profit, established to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. The NFPA develops, publishes, and disseminates over 300 consensus codes, and has over 70,000 worldwide members.(1)(2)

Computer Audit and Control Guidelines (Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants)

The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) is a not-for-profit entity created by the Canadian Parliament in 1902. CICA supports the setting of accounting, auditing, and assurance standards for business and government, and develops and delivers education programs for certification in the auditing and accounting of numerous fields, including computer and information technology security.(3) The Institute produces professional literature in support of their standard-setting and certification efforts, including publications on best practices for the audit and control of secure computing and secure IT environments.(4)(5)
