Ware Report (1970)

Ware, Willis. Security Controls for Computer Systems: Report of Defense Science Board Task Force on Computer Security, Rand Report R609-1: Feb. 1970.

This report was the product of a task force organized by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) in 1967. That task force was charged with studying and recommending appropriate computer security safeguards to protect classified information in multi-access, resource-sharing computer systems. The Rand Corporation published the report in February 1970 for the Office of the Director of Defense Research and Engineering, Department of Defense, with a slightly modified report, omitting two transmittal notes for the DoD? chain of command, being published in October 1970 by the Rand Corporation with a Confidential clearance rating. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (formerly ARPA) declassified the report in 1975.http://www.rand.org/pubs/reports/R609-1/index2.html "
